hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.
also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.

I came on Tumblr today fully prepared to go on a rant to the Panic fandom for being hateful little twerps about the Urie wedding.
There is a distinct LACK of hate and bad “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” puns. It’s like the crazies, for one shining moment, grew up. While I am sad that a perfectly good rant has gone to waste…

I’m really irritated by people hoarding URLs. I keep attempting to change my personal one, but nope. Every single thing even remotely related to the song lyrics I’m trying to use is taken.
I’m not talking about people that have changed theirs on an active blog. I’m talking about the blogs that are BLANK because someone just wanted the URL in CASE they ONE day MIGHT want to use it (and let’s be fucking real, they’ll probably NEVER use it or they’d have been like everyone else and changed the URL on their ACTUAL blog).
Stop being an asshat. You’re wasting internet space, and I cannot be the only person annoyed by this.
That said, the victim blaming, slut shaming (still hate that term), and abuser apologists in this episode has been ridiculous.
At least two of the three were addressed.
And in that moment, I swear, I could hear the SJ bloggers gearing up for the shitstorm from Glee doing a Bobby Brown song to make a point about Chris Brown.

With the return of Fall Out Boy from their hiatus, all the music blogs are in a state of chaos.
The thing I see most is “ugh it sounds nothing like them.” I’m so sick of hearing this, about ANY band. I think if you continuously expect bands to make the same record over and over again, you’re never going to understand music at all.
Are you the same person you were when you were 17? Do you listen to the same music? I know I sure don’t. So why should ANY band be pigeonholed like that?!
People change, people grow, that doesn’t make them less of a band or less of a person. Embrace something new, dislike it if you want but don’t act like a fan of music if you can’t embrace an artistic change.
I’d kill for another TDAGARIM, but I know I won’t get it, and guess what? I am fine with that! I am so excited to see what Brand New can come up with next because they are always evolving into something different! That is the joy about music. It evolves. You’re just setting yourself up for a constant disappointment if you only want another Take This To Your Grave, or Good Mourning, or Your Favorite Weapon.
